Leave my loneliness unbroken

36. Canada. Vegetarian for over 20 years. I am really good at making 'meat and potatoes' style food veggie/vegan. I'm also good at recreating restaurant food at home. I am restoring my 1972 VW van. I love cars and trucks as aesthetic art. I'm about to quit my job and start my own business and that is scary as fuck.
These are very random things about me.

Did you miss getting your free copy of Turtle yesterday? Lucky for you, there’s more!
Yesterday, the Kindle version of my novel Turtle: The American Contrition of Franz Ferdinand was available for the great low price of zero dollars. 106 people snatched it up while it was free, but what if you weren’t one of those lucky bastards? You still have options!
1) If you are a Prime Kindle Member, you can borrow Turtle for free from your Kindle with the Kindle Owner’s Lending Library. Yep, free! I guess that’s just how libraries work, bro.
2) Head on down to your local library and request that they get a copy. Seriously, libraries do that. Just ask for a request form.
3) Or, if you don’t want to ever give it back, buy it! The digital copy will be yours to keep forever or until e-readers become obsolete. The hard copy will be yours until you lose it.
4) OR YOU CAN REBLOG THIS POST FOR YOUR CHANCE TO WIN ONE OF TWO FREE SIGNED COPIES OF TURTLE. That’s right, signed hard copies. I will even mail them to you for free. Because they are real, tangible, hard copies, they are guaranteed to never become obsolete until the English language itself expires from the face of the earth.
So how do you win one of these two free copies? Just reblog this post. You can win one of two ways: My 950th follower will automatically receive a free copy (I currently have 895 of you goons). And on the day that I gain my 950th follower, I will randomly choose, from the people who have reblogged this post, a single individual to receive a second signed copy. In order to win, you do not necessarily have to be following me. Multiple entries count, and following me counts as an entry. Um… I think that’s pretty much it. If you don’t know how giveaways work by now, what are you doing on Tumblr anyway?

Lately going on tumblr has been like going to church. All I hear is a bunch of shit and read repeatedly that I am a terrible person. Intermittently interrupted by porn of course.

First Goal!

Goal #1, Health

BRUSH MY TEETH EVERY NIGHT!

I’ve been letting myself get to tired before finally going to bed, so todays goal is to allow myself time to get ready to go to sleep.

I plan to do this goal indefinitely.

I could use some help in life setting and maintaining goals, so here’s 100 goals in 100 days

Hunger games

I couldn’t help but laugh at the brothers named Castor and Pollux. But then I remembered that most kids reading the book probably haven’t seen Face/off. But they should cuz its a wicked movie.

Congressman Bobby Rush dons a hoodie in support of Treyvon Martin, violating House dress code.

I swear that dress codes and assigned parking are the two things that drive me mad in this world. The only thing that changes with my choice of dress is your opinion of who I am/how well I can do something. It does not actually change my ability to do a job better, speak better, live better, be better. I can dress to the tits and still do a shitty job, or I can show up in sweats and blow your ass out of the water by how good I am at something. Screw you and your stupid opinions based on how one looks.

Damn dogs

I don’t know how many times I have said “I AM NOT A POPSICLE” to my dogs today. I swear they both have serious OCD when it comes to licking.

The only thing I can think while watching this is that there is a guys arm shoved up Elmo’s butt

I’m tired of reading posts about how self confident one is, then in the next post read that you can’t cut your hair how you want/get that peircing because of job/job interview.
If you don’t want people judging you on your looks, don’t buy into the idea that you have to look a certain way in order to do a job properly.
The only good thing I can say about my employer is they don’t hire based on looks, we have Mohawks, long beards, tattoos, peircings, dye jobs, you name it-we got it. AND we are a company that deals directly with the public.
If you don’t believe me come ride the bus here sometime.

Curious about the motivation behind repression

After reading blogs and comments about poc over the last several months, I’ve definitely become more aware of the negative portrayal of poc and religious beliefs in movies/tv and even advertising.
What I don’t understand is the motivation behind repressing certain groups. I’m always suspicious about motivation, as it is usually monitary based these days.
What do you think is the motivation behind this kind of repression? I can’t quite figure out what benefit it has to any one individual, groups, or society to keep people repressed based on color or religion. There must be a reason why it continues.
Any comments, opinions, ideas?
Edit: definately fear is always a motivator. I am maybe searching for a deeper meaning when there isn’t one. I always assume anyone’s actions like this have a benefit. I just maybe don’t understand why someone thinks racism is ok in any form. However I think that someone who is racist thinks they benefit from it somehow. Maybe I think knowing the motivation will make it easier to combat.
What really makes me mad is reading people’s blogs that deny racism even exists in this day and age. Try telling Trayvon that because there is a black president today that racism has been eradicated.
